Philippine Lunch Program – Update
The school year for Calunasan Sur Elementary School in Loboc, Bohol, Philippines is ending April 1, 2016 and will commence the first week of June, 2016. I visited the school in February and made some changes to the Feeding Program. It was evident that we needed to hire some permanent cooks to be sure someone was there everyday to prepare the meal. I hired three faithful ladies for 50 pesos/day (@$1.15). They were delighted to have the job. Not only do their children get to eat lunch everyday, but they also get to enjoy lunch – if there is enough food left over – which there usually is.
I also added twelve more children to the program – siblings of those already included in the program. Last year we fed forty-three children. At the beginning of the school year the teachers begged to add fourteen more to the program – which we did. Now, with the addition of twelve more children we are now feeding sixty-nine students, which is almost half of the school! Vicky Acain, the program manager and I adjusted the menu to accommodate the additional students. The meal is still appetizing and nutritious.
Remember what Jesus said in Matthew 25:37, 40 “Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you?” “And the King will tell them, “I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

Great program. For children to learn, it is essential that their stomach are not empty. It is wonderful how not only the number of students grow, but also the cooks and their children. God’s continued blessings as you keep growing in Christ.
