Montana on a Mission’s first clean water project was in the Philippines in 2004. It was a huge success, bringing clean water right to the villagers’ homes. Our most recent project is among the Maasai people of Kenya. Several springs in one community have been developed providing over 38 thousand liters of clean water each day. Women and children typically spend the majority of each day, walking miles to the nearest source, collecting water and carrying the heavy load back to their home. Most water sources are unprotected and contaminated and the women and children are at risk of attack from wild animals or people on their journey. The burden of water collection often means children must stay home to help and cannot attend school. You can help provide clean water, protecting whole communities from disease and increasing opportunities for the women and children who spend much of their day collecting water for their households.
