Transitional Housing Production is Underway
Immeasurable Hope
Our current fundraising campaign introduces the banner of “100 homes for 100 families”. This invites donations toward the cost of producing 100 transitional homes for 100 families. A million homes are needed to shelter the people who have lost their homes in the past month, due to earthquake or the typhoon Haiyan. We have set our initial goal of $40,000 by January 6, 2014 to cover the production and installation of the first 100 transitional homes . A team from Montana on a Mission will be leaving for Bohol on the 7th of January to help with clean-up, building and installation of these homes.
Montana on a Mission’s “Help Bohol” (now 100 homes for 100 families) program recently purchased and sent pneumatic framing nailers and stapleguns as well as boxes of nails and staples to the Philippines to outfit a mechanized assembly line for the production of transitional homes. These tools allow for a much more efficient process in producing the homes and getting them in place to shelter families who have lost their homes due to the earthquake that hit Bohol on October 15th.
I.D.E.A. (International Deaf Education Association) based in Bohol has designed and implemented a process to produce transitional homes. A team from Montana is currently there preparing and training locals to utilize pneumatic tools. I think they will like them better than the hammers once they get used to it!
We have contacted the local business community in Bohol, inviting them to become a financial support and/or producer of the pre-fab panels with the guidance of MOM and IDEA. We are hopeful they will match or exceed the $25,000 we have thus far received. You too can be a part of the rebuilding process by donating and being in prayer for the people of the Philippines as well as the teams traveling to the Philippines to work alongside them in the relief effort.
Thank you so much for your generous support!
