Those who walk in the footsteps of Jesus always exemplify extravagant generosity. Those of you who have supported the effort to provide temporary housing to those affected by the October earthquake on the island of Bohol are wonderful examples of such open-handedness. To this date, you have contributed more than $28,000 toward the $40,000 goal which will provide 100 temporary houses for those who have lost their homes.
As is true with most disasters, we tend to forget that victim’s lives are traumatically affected and that the suffering far outlives the news coverage. In the U.S., the earthquake was overshadowed by the government shutdown and then further eclipsed by the dreadful Typhoon Haiyan.
