Adventures in Cebu – update from Ellen
May 16, 2015
I’ve just returned from Cebu a few hours ago. Laarni and I took Marife Matildo and her mother to a specialist who diagnosed Marife with Lupus. Finally she has a proper diagnosis. Her medicine will be expensive but we have encouraged her mother to go to Loboc and talk with social services for help with her vitamins and the anti-immune drug. Please pray for Marife – hopefully she will realize that she can still have a happy and full life!
On the way home we ran across a young man lying in the middle of the road injured from a motorcycle accident! Two cars stopped suddenly in front of him and he was thrown from his motorcycle. He was surrounded by a great crowd of on-lookers and two police cars were there directing traffic. We stopped to help and from my assessment I think he broke his left hip. He was in a great deal of pain but Praise God he was able to move his feet and wiggle his toes! We waited for close to half an hour for an ambulance to show up! Laarni said it is Saturday and they may not be available. How frustrating and scary! I have no idea how long he was lying in the middle of the road before we got there. Please pray for a speedy recovery for him – his name is John. (He also had an inch long gash in his chin).
Tomorrow is church, and after church we will go to visit Patricia (the lady who has no legs) and visit the three siblings. MOM built small homes for them. Can’t wait to see how they are getting on.
Blessings, Ellen
