Catching up from Kenya
Tuesday we met with the dear people of Iltuisho, the planned site of MOM’s first water well in Kenya. When we arrived many excited people came to the site to hear what is being planned. We first visited this site and the people of Ilturisho last October. This was the neediest place we found in the area, in terms of water. The women were scraping water from a tiny puddle in the bottom of a three foot hole in the ground.
Now, after the long rainy season that just ended, it is more of a medium-sized muddy puddle. Several hundred people depend on this water source for drinking, cooking and washing.
We were so excited to share the news with the community that MOM had raised enough money to drill a well! God willing it will provide ample fresh, clean water for the community and the school. The people cheered! They are used to hearing promises from foreigners that are never fulfilled.
We will be having a formal meeting and ceremony to draft an agreement covering usage, maintenance and management of the well on Friday at noon. The community is also providing a goat to slaughter, roast and eat to show their appreciation!
Please join us in praying for the well to provide a generous supply of fresh clean water for generations and that the people of Ilturisho would be blessed by it. After all, our God is able to do infinitely more than we can ever ask for or imagine!
Thanks so much to all of you who contributed to this amazing gift!
