From a Turtle to the Indy 500
We began the day in the Manila airport sleeping and not sleeping on a tile floor or metal chairs. We had arrived at midnight and decided to stay in the airport instead of a hotel since we didn’t want to hassle with leaving the airport for such a short time. Unfortunately, the place was like a zoo and nobody slept. However, when it was time to go, everyone perked up and we started getting excited again.
We arrived in Bohol at 9am and everything turned from a turtle’s pace to a rabbit in the Indy 500. After loading the Jeepney, we headed to Dow Diamond which is part of the school for the deaf (IDEA for short). They are already building the same transitional homes that we will be building. Denny gave us the overall picture and we saw examples of the homes. From there we drove to the city center for Loboc where we saw firsthand some of the damage done by the earthquake. While there, we also toured the gymnasium where we will build the transitional homes for as many families as time allows.
