Pastor Michael’s Trip Report

Things are going well here. We have had some changes in our schedule and our projects, as I am sure is custom here. However, we are flexible and feeling great about the changes.

The biggest addition and change is a youth retreat that will take place at Salagin Balay Saturday and Sunday. It was suppose to happen last weekend, but we moved because of a basketball tournament. There will be 36 youth from the barrio and 6 from Concepcion (sp?) as well as our 12 members. So we will be hanging out with them during those two days and it should be great to for the students to build relationship with Philippinos their own age.

We have also been asked to have an exhibition basketball game against the Phillipinos this weekend. I think they thing we are the Harlem Globetrotters or something, but it will be fun. There is another tournament this weekend as well which we will watch as well as be a part of.

The chicken coop idea has been scratched. Along thinks that the resources designated to that project could be better spent on school supplies packets. He argument is that it is not needed and the chickens may be stolen. So we have been in contact with Mario from Lowi (sp?) to make the bags for 160 pupils and we will pass them out if they are done before we leave. School starts on June 15 the day after we leave. It would be fun to be here for the first day of school, but we cannot be here. The teachers are disappointed that the kids will not see us, but they are thankful for our help in painting the learning center.

We spent the past two day painting the learning center. Next week we will paint the day care inside and out as well possibly paint the inside of the classrooms in the learning center. The teachers, Marli and Agnus moved the furniture and would like their rooms painted. If we have funds, we might be able to do it.

    Hi, Pastor Michael!
It’s so good to hear about your projects and what you are up to there. We are praying for all of you. Bummer about the chicken coop, but the youth retreat and basketball and painting sound great. We can’t wait to see photos. Tell Jacob to write home :-).
    Praying for you,
    Jenny
