Medley

We just returned home last night and we’re struggling to readjust to our home timezone.  I seems we were just becoming compatible with Philippine time and it was time to leave.  In fact, the trip was entirely to short.  Ok, enough complaining already

One of the qualities that I’ve noticed on every trip is the unique medley of people and skills that God brings together and the harmony produced is a sweet song of praise that glorifies Him. 

This trip was no exception.  We had a photographer, a graphic designer, three teachers, a nurse, several people with business skills and a talented computer technician.

Have you ever believed that you wanted to be involved in "full-time ministry?".  Perhaps you believe that those who give their lives in occupations like missions or clergy are somehow more spiritual or holy or useful to God than someone in the business or education sector?  A kind of hierarchy has evolved that puts those in "full-time ministry" at the top of the pyramid and everyone else somewhere below.  Please hear what I am not saying.  It is not that missionaries and those in the clergy are not important. They are!   I am saying that the work of the  Kingdom requires each of us get involved with all the talents that we have been given.

The world has never had nor ever will have enough pastors and missionaries to do the work of the Kingdom.   The role of pastors and missionaries is to equip believers to live out the good news in all of society.  It is only when the entire church is mobilized to use the talents we have been given in Jesus name, will the Great Commission be realized. 

In his song entitled "Lifesong", Mark Hall writes these words:

"Empty hands held high
Such small sacrifice
If not joined with our lives
We sing in vain tonight"

"May the words we say
And the things we do
Make our lifesong sing
Bring a smile to You"

"Let our lifesong sing to You
Let our lifesong sing to You

This is our act of worship.
