First House is Finished!
Despite the rain, language barriers and transportation issues, we have completed the first of 100 homes! Hooray!
This is the Reambonanza family. Their house was damaged beyond repair. By that I mean it collapsed flat to the ground. They were able to push the walls back up and lean them on each other to have a ‘shelter’ This house will allow them a fresh start without having to borrow a bunch of money at high interest rates. While it took a few extra days to finish, it felt good to know that we got things started.
The day was productive at the construction site but not so much at the production site. We had a little trouble getting the compressors running correctly and the air tools functioning properly. A small team of us met with the mayor to find out how things were going in Loboc. There were a lot of small projects going on around the area including many shopping trips to find small items to fill in the gaps.
Unfortunately, I suspect that people are feeling the pressure of the end of the trip getting closer. We all want more time to spend time with our friends and build more houses. We are working hard today to streamline the house building process. Some of us will go to Sagbayan, the epicenter of the earthquake. Some are at the school. Another busy day. It looks like rain – but no wind!!
