Shopping trip

The first picture is from the top of the hotel.  A 365 degree view with a lot of people and buildings…

We went to a clothing material store this morning and purchased enough material for 17 pastors and their wives. The pastors will receive enough fabric to make a suite and their wives will each receive material for a traditional Indian garment. As always, it was an experience all it’s own.  There must have been 20 people working each counter and more people in the store than all of Big Timber put together! The sound level in the store was intense, a constant buzz of voices as hundreds of sales were being made simultaneously on 5 different levels of the store. Our prayer is that each pastor and his wife will know how valued they are and feel the love of God. They make many sacrifices to present the gospel. The rural pastors receive pastoral support of as little as $10.00 a month and the overseer of pastors makes $50.00 a month. Other income comes from their churches, however most of the churches cannot provide a salary.

LUNCH

We just got home from lunch. It’s hard to describe, let me try. The waiter brought out the placemat, a whole banana leaf which we washed ourselves. On that he placed a whole bbq fish (the whole fish) along with an assortment of spiced rices, then a mutton ball (lamb meat ball) that I couldn’t eat (too hot), then a chicken leg with spicy rice and a coke  Oh, yes, we ate all that with our fingers! When you are done, you just fold up the leaf and throw the whole thing away. Very interesting.

Very soon we are headed to the orphanage.  More later…..
