Our first few days we spent at a 4 The Word pastors training. The group of 25 pastors from central Kenya are one of four groups undergoing the four year training program Kenya. We were able to take four of our area Maasai pastors to get a taste of the training and discuss how it might work to begin the training in our area. It was amazing! Russ and Jill are wonderful teachers. The training focuses on how to rightly interpret Biblical passages within the context of the entire Bible and includes training on integrity and accountability of those who bear the title, “pastor”. In Kenya, as with many other areas of the world, the “prosperity gospel” is being preached more widely than the Word of God. Many people and pastors are lured in by the promise of material blessings on this side of eternity. Which is a very tempting promise especially in areas of material poverty. The message to “store up your treasures in heaven”, is not popular.
We are excited and praying about how M.O.M. can best come alongside the pastors in our project areas in order to support the accurate sharing of God’s Word and the Good News of the Gospel!
